Andrés Anza Wins 2024 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize

Andrés Anza, a Mexican artist born in 1991, has received the 2024 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize for his life-size ceramic work titled I only know what I have seen (2023). The award comes with a €50,000 grant. Anza's creation will be showcased at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris from May 15 to June 9, 2024, alongside 29 other finalists. A native of Mexico City, he completed his BA at the University of Monterrey in 2014. Anza has presented solo exhibitions at various venues, including Galería Anna Marra in Rome and Galería Obra Negra in Mexico City. His ceramics were also part of the 2015 Emerging Art Biennial in Monterrey, where he received the Encouragement to Create award. The winner was chosen by a 13-member international jury comprising experts from design, architecture, journalism, and curatorship, including Magdalene Odundo and Minsuk Cho. The Craft Prize, established in 2016 to commemorate Loewe's origins as a craft workshop in 1846, recognizes contemporary craftsmanship. Previous recipients include Eriko Inazaki, Dahye Jeong, and Fanglu Lin.
