Andrea Salvetti, sculptor, designer and gastronome, dies at 49

Andrea Salvetti, the Italian sculptor, designer and gastronome, died of a heart attack at Saturnia on March 1, 2017, at age 49. Born in 1967 in Bozzano, near Lucca, he studied at the Liceo Artistico di Lucca and architecture in Florence. His work bridged sculpture, design, and food, creating restaurant furnishings and inventing the "mistery" cooking container. He collaborated with chefs Paolo Lopriore, Davide Scabin, Damiano Donati, Valeria Piccini, and Igles Corelli. His exhibitions included Carrara Marble Weeks, Design Miami Basel, PAD Paris, and Artefiera, with galleries Nilufar, Dilmos, and Moss. He had a history of heart problems.
