Andrea Roggi's Sculptures at Napoleon's Elba Residences and Sardinia

In 2026, Italian sculptor Andrea Roggi (born 1962, Castiglion Fiorentino) presents two major projects: '50 Years of Creation', a retrospective at the Napoleonic Residences on Elba Island, and 'Mare Nostrum Sardegna', a diffused exhibition across Gallura and Costa Smeralda. The Elba exhibition coincides with the reopening of the Palazzina dei Mulini and Villa San Martino gardens on June 20, 2026, following a €2 million PNRR-funded restoration. The gardens, covering over 5,000 square meters at Palazzina dei Mulini and about 35,000 square meters at Villa San Martino, were restored using philological approaches to revive historical designs, including Italian gardens, terraces, panoramic views, and Napoleonic-era features like the Fontana di Napoleone. Roggi's sculptures, exploring themes of nature, the Tree of Life, growth, and intergenerational transmission, are installed in dialogue with the architecture, restored gardens, fortifications, and sea horizon. His 'dynamic fusion' technique creates suspended monumental forms. The exhibition extends to Portoferraio's Molo Elba with a monumental installation. 'Mare Nostrum Sardegna' places sculptures in the Mediterranean landscape of Gallura and Costa Smeralda. Roggi's work was previously presented at Galeries Bartoux in Paris.
