Andrea Pazienza's early works on show in Cattolica

exhibition · 2026-04-26

More than thirty years after his death, Andrea Pazienza, who was born in San Benedetto del Tronto in 1956 and passed away in Montepulciano in 1988, is being celebrated in a new exhibition. Titled 'Il giovane Paz! Andrea Pazienza da Pescara e oltre', this showcase kicks off on April 11 at the Galleria Comunale Santa Croce in Cattolica (Rimini) and will run until June 2. It features over thirty original works from 1969, when he moved to Pescara for Liceo Artistico 'G. Misticoni'. Curated by Milena Becci and Nicola Mattoscio, the exhibition is part of the Regina Fumetti Festival from April 12–14. Highlights include the 1975 piece 'Mentre l’occhio di Dio ti guarda, tu guardi la mia fidanzata?' and the previously unseen 1974 story 'Sulla via della seta', which Linus had rejected before 'Le straordinarie avventure di Pentothal'. His satirical cartoons often humorously targeted his teacher, Sandro Visca, known for his distinctive black moustache. The event is organized by the Servizi Culturali del Comune di Cattolica in collaboration with Fondazione Pescarabruzzo and CLAP Museum.
