Andrea Mastrovito offers drawings for donations to Bergamo hospital

Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito, based in New York, launched a fundraising campaign for the Don Orione Center in Bergamo, one of the cities hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In exchange for donations between €200 and €1,000, he offers original drawings from his archive, including frames from his animated film "NYsferatu" and his upcoming film "I am not legend," as well as preparatory sketches for series like "Sette Opere di Misericordia" and his stained glass intervention at the Bergamo hospital. The donations will be used to purchase protective equipment (masks, gloves, suits) for the center's residential care facility, which houses over 220 people. Mastrovito, deeply connected to the Don Orione Center—which cares for his father and brother—announced the initiative via a press release and social media. Within hours, 100 people donated and over 300 shared the link. The campaign runs through the GoFundMe platform, and artworks will be shipped after the emergency ends. The center recently lost its former director, Don Andrea Curreli, aged 84. Mastrovito's gesture is part of a wave of solidarity initiatives in Lombardy, where hospitals are overwhelmed.
