Andrea Maffei: From Isozaki's Partner to Independent Architect
Born in 1968 in Maranello, Italy, Andrea Maffei pursued architecture studies in Florence. In 1997, he relocated to Tokyo to collaborate with Pritzker Prize laureate Arata Isozaki, eventually becoming his partner and overseeing Italian projects. Their notable designs include the Uffizi Gallery exit (1998), PalaIsozaki, the Maranello Library, Bologna TAV station, and Endless Tower. Maffei established Andrea Maffei Architects in Milan in 2005. Current endeavors involve a pavilion for Sogemi Spa and social housing in Melegnano. On March 22, 2019, he will present in Florence regarding the Uffizi project, addressing significant works such as Palahockey, Allianz Tower, and his Expo Dubai 2020 concept, which he critiques. AMA is also preparing an installation for Salone del Mobile 2019 at the University of Milan.
