Andrea Fustinoni: A Collector’s Journey from Design to Contemporary Art

Andrea Fustinoni, born in Milan in 1957, serves as the president of the Amixi di Villa Croce in Genoa and is a co-founder of MiramART, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting contemporary Italian art. His collection initially focused on 1950s design but transitioned to contemporary art after experiencing the Panza di Biumo collections in Varese and La Marrana Arte Ambientale. He emphasizes acquiring works that are significant in an artist's journey, aiming for a cohesive dialogue among the pieces. Fustinoni has a particular interest in photography, such as Daniel Gustav Cramer's Fairy Tales and Leigh Ledare's portraits of his mother, as well as video art, including Adrian Paci's The Column and Bertille Bak's Boussa. He supports artists like Francesco Gennari, Salvatore Arancio, and others, purchasing from galleries and fairs like Artissima and Frieze, with plans to visit Arco Lisboa. The Israeli pavilion by Gal Weinstein at the Venice Biennale, showcasing a polyurethane surface soaked in sugar and coffee that represents the Jezreel Valley, left a strong impression on him. He also recommends emerging artists Zoe Williams (ceramics), Alejandra Hernandez (Live Portraits), and Tomaso De Luca.
