Andrea Francolino's Debut Solo Show at Mazzoleni Turin
Andrea Francolino (Bari, 1979) presents his first solo exhibition at Galleria Mazzoleni in Turin, titled 'Venne all’esistenza lo Spazio beante,' curated by Lorenzo Benedetti. The show features geolocated casts of cracks made with cement and earth dust, gradient dust on the floor, a galactic diptych evoking the Big Bang and procreation, and 'A-biotic' contrasting plant life with its artificial avatar. Works reference Dante's three realms of the afterlife and Freud's three psychic layers: earth's depth, gold's allure, and mystical lapis lazuli. Paradoxical 'Crepe dell’acqua' transform breakage into suture, scar, fold, and wrinkle. The exhibition opened in October 2022 at the gallery's Turin venue.
