Andrea Fiorino's Pied Piper Performance at spazioSERRA in Milan

At spazioSERRA in Milan, Andrea Fiorino (born 1990 in Augusta, Sicily, based in Milan) presents a site-specific performance exhibition titled "Hamelin Il club impossibile degli ospiti indesiderati," running as part of the unpostoIMPOSSIBILE season. The work reinterprets the Brothers Grimm's Pied Piper of Hamelin (1284) to explore human attraction to the nonexistent and the impact of contemporary culture on presence. The performance unfolds in three acts: first, the space becomes a metaphor for the piper's instrument, with muffled sound emanating to the metro station while the interior is obscured; second, Fiorino appears and carves images onto the glass windows; third, inside the space, he collaborates with the Milanese collective Ciao Mare (musicians, designers, photographers, seamstresses, lawyers) amid remnants of an "impossible" party. The artist asserts the role of celebration and imagination against the need to preform for recognition. The exhibition follows the success of Agnes Questionmark's long performance CHM13hTERT at the same venue. A critical text by Manuela Piccolo accompanies the show.
