Andrea Chimenti: cantautore tra Bowie, poesia e arte visiva

Andrea Chimenti, born in Reggio Emilia in 1959, is an Italian singer-songwriter and author whose career spans music, theater, cinema, and visual arts. In the 1980s, he established the rock band Moda and contributed to Italy's first independent new wave compilation for the Florence label I.R.A., alongside Litfiba and Diaframma. The band's second album featured co-production by Mick Ronson, known for his work with David Bowie. Chimenti embarked on a solo career in 1990 and released 'L'Albero Pazzo' in 1996 through the Consorzio Produttori Indipendenti, collaborating with David Sylvian. He has worked with filmmaker Carlo Verdone and the French Ministry of Culture, creating a video box set in Normandy. Chimenti has also curated visual and sound installations on artists like Giorgio Vasari and Leonardo da Vinci. In 2014, he published the novel 'Yuri', followed by the audiobook 'L'organista di Mainz' and the album 'Il Deserto la Notte il Mare' in 2021, which won the Premio alla Carriera at the MEI. He describes art as the "deepest expression of oneself" and admires Ivan Kramskoy's 'Cristo nel deserto' and David Bowie's 'Heroes'.
