Andrea Branzi, visionary architect and designer, dies at 85
Andrea Branzi, an influential figure in Italian architecture and design, has died in Milan. He completed his studies at the Florence School of Architecture in 1966 and was one of the founders of Archizoom Associati, which included Gilberto Corretti, Paolo Deganello, and Massimo Morozzi. They introduced the radical idea of No-Stop-City, a vision for urban life without conventional architectural limits. In 1982, Branzi founded the Domus Academy in Milan and headed the Interior Design School at the Polytechnic University of Milan until 2009. His iconic furniture and chair designs are featured in major museums like the Centre Georges Pompidou, V&A, and MoMA. In 2022, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Italian Architecture Prize and exhibited at Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi in Berlin.
