Andrea Bocelli to headline inaugural Land of Song Festival in Cardiff

Andrea Bocelli is set to make his long-awaited return to Wales after 22 years, headlining the first-ever Land of Song Festival at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in May 2027. This festival honors the musical legacy of Wales, known as the 'land of song', and will showcase renowned artists and choirs. The 67-year-old Bocelli shared his enthusiasm, describing the event as an 'unforgettable evening' and acknowledging the country's vibrant choral tradition. His last performance in Wales was in 2005 at Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival, where he shared the stage with Van Morrison, Alison Moyet, and Katherine Jenkins. The festival will also feature the Cor World Choir event, which began in Cardiff in 1992, boasting over 20,000 participants, making it one of the largest singing gatherings in Wales. Cardiff Council's cabinet member for culture, parks, and events, Jennifer Burke, praised the festival, emphasizing the city's rich musical future. Bocelli, who has been blind since age 12, boasts nearly 40 years in the industry, with multiple awards, six Grammy nominations, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has performed for various dignitaries, including royalty and US presidents, and at significant occasions such as the Olympics and World Cup. Notably, in 2016, he sang for Leicester City fans at the King Power Stadium following their Premier League title victory, a gesture he offered to then-manager Claudio Ranieri.
