Andrea Bianconi carries armchair to summit of Cima Carega in performance
On July 5, 2020, Andrea Bianconi, an Italian artist, presented 'Spedizione Cima Carega' in the Dolomites. Starting at 8 a.m., approximately twenty members of the Durone Team transported Bianconi's 'Sit down to have an idea' armchair from Rifugio Revolto, located at 1,336 meters, to the peak of Cima Carega, which stands at 2,259 meters. The armchair was handed off every ten minutes, mimicking traditional processions. At the summit, it was set down to the tune of the folk song 'Signore delle cime,' which a local journalist referred to as a 'lay blessing.' While local officials criticized the performance, it received backing from the Fraccaroli refuge caretakers, with proceeds benefiting Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica.
