Andrea Bellini on Four Years Leading Geneva's CAC Kunsthalle

In an interview with Artribune, Andrea Bellini reflects on his leadership at the Centre d'Art Contemporain (CAC) in Geneva, where he has served since 2012. Established in 1974 by Adelina von Fürstenberg, CAC is older than Geneva's contemporary art museum. Bellini took over from Paolo Colombo and has revitalized the BAC building, which it shares with Mamco, led by Lionel Bovier. He draws a distinction between the CAC’s Kunsthalle function and the museum model of Rivoli, while also criticizing the allocation of Geneva's cultural funding, which amounts to CHF 250 million each year, as being overly dispersed. Bellini has raised over CHF 400,000 for the Biennale des Images en Mouvement, evolving it into a production platform. CAC has supported various artists and launched a residency program for outstanding students from HEAD Geneva, ECAL Lausanne, and ECAV Valais.
