Anawana Haloba's 'From This Darkness I Shall Grow' at Bergen Kunsthall

Bergen Kunsthall will present Anawana Haloba as the Festival Exhibition artist for 2026. The exhibition, titled 'From This Darkness I Shall Grow,' draws inspiration from Aboriginal Australian poet and filmmaker Romaine Moreton, exploring a shift from oppression to agency. It focuses on female craft traditions and polyphonic rituals as forms of resistance, referencing Tonga ceremonial practices where multiple voices create a collective sound through repetition and call-and-response. The exhibition runs parallel to the Bergen International Festival, which began in 1953, and is curated and produced by Bergen Kunsthall.
