Anatomie Spontanee: Food as Political and Social Bond at TWM Factory Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The exhibition "Anatomie Spontanee" at TWM Factory's Parentesi space in Rome, curated by Paola Farfaglio and Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, brings together two 2025 projects: "Anatomie del Nutrimento" by Cities Art Projects and "Roots and Routes" by Latitudo Art Projects under the Magic Carpets platform. The show explores nourishment as a physical and mental act with political and social connotations, engaging communities from Rome's Municipi III and XV. Artists address food presence, scarcity, and absence amid global crises. Works focus on universal staples like water, bread, and milk. Gaia and Greta Scaramella's project on milk, developed with children from Saxa Rubra school, reflects on women deprived of breastfeeding. Gaia's installation "Milk" features empty colanders as metaphors for breasts emptied by poverty and violence. Nordine Sajot's "Ex-voto against war" addresses food deprivation as political oppression, referencing Gaza. Camille Orlandini's "Faire Pain Commun" with L'Approdo family home and Biblioteca Galline Bianche uses water and bread as unifying elements. Ombretta Gamberale's "Ricette memorabili" is a collective recipe book. Caretto–Spagna's "ESCULENTA" installation explores biodiversity and regeneration through cabbage, transforming a table into an active organism showing consumption, revitalization, and regrowth.
