Anand RK and Charbak Dipta Nominated for 2026 Eisner Awards

Indian illustrators Anand RK and Charbak Dipta have been nominated for the 2026 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, the highest honor in comics. Anand RK is nominated in the Best Short Story category for "trAPPed," an illustrated investigative feature for Bloomberg News created with journalist Suparna Sharma and reporter Natalie Obiko Pearson. The piece explores digital arrest scams in India and previously won the Pulitzer Prize for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary. Anand RK previously won an Eisner in 2021 for "Blue in Green." Charbak Dipta is nominated in the Best Digital Comic category for "The World of Lublu," a self-published graphic novel originally in Bengali as "Lublur Prithibi." The work follows a philosopher in a surreal Indian town and has also been nominated for the Harvey Awards, making it one of the few Indian creator-owned comics recognized by both major international awards. The nominations mark a milestone for Indian illustration, showcasing the medium's range from investigative journalism to regional storytelling.
