Ana Magalhães Reflects on MAC USP Leadership, Museum Attendance Surpasses Pre-Pandemic Levels
In July 2024, Ana Gonçalves Magalhães completed her time as co-director at MAC USP, passing the leadership to José Lira and Esther Hamburger. She started her position in July 2020 and tackled the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic by launching virtual projects, including an Instagram series featuring artist Gustavo Von Há and acquiring the museum's first NFT. Additionally, she organized webinars in partnership with the Pinacoteca de São Paulo. Under her guidance, MAC USP received the ABCA award in 2023 for its focus on academics and engaging its collection, attracting around 410,000 visitors.
