Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait at Jewish Museum London
The Jewish Museum London hosts 'Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait', an exhibition curated by Amy's sisters Alex and Riva Winehouse in collaboration with the Winehouse Foundation. Running from March 16 to September 24, 2017, the show is divided into three sections: 'A Family Portrait' featuring personal objects, family photos, stage costumes, and memorabilia; 'Amy Street Art Trail' tracing her career through musical milestones; and a new installation by street artist Pegasus titled 'Love Is A Losing Game', referencing her song from 'Back to Black'. Pegasus had previously created the stencil 'Fallen Angel' on a Camden information center, repainted in 2013, and other murals including 'Atmosphere' near Amy's home and a portrait on Paul's Emporium. Numerous street artists like Captain Kris, Mr. Cenz, Philth, and Amara Por Dios have contributed tributes across Camden, forming an open-air museum. The exhibition originated in Camden and traveled to San Francisco, Vienna, and Tel Aviv before returning to London. Alex Winehouse described Amy as 'hungry for normality' and suffering from media pressure, calling her a 'difficult sister' but also 'generous, selfless, and loyal'. Amy Winehouse died in 2011 at age 27 from alcohol poisoning, after struggles with bulimia, drugs, and tumultuous relationships.
