Amor Veneris: A Lisbon Exhibition on Female Pleasure
The exhibition 'Amor Veneris' in Oeiras, Portugal, explores female pleasure through an immersive, educational path designed by architecture studio Os Espacialistas. The show is divided into three sections—Brain, Skin, and Clitoris—and features works by international artists including Louise Bourgeois, Annette Messager, Ana Mendieta, and Laure Prouvost. The clitoris, whose anatomy was formally described only in 2005 by researcher Helen O'Connell, serves as both title and symbol. The exhibition was conceived by psychologist and sexologist Marta Crawford, a well-known TV personality in Portugal, as a precursor to the future MuSex (Pedagogical Museum of Sex), a project she has been developing since 2010. The show runs until December 30, 2022, at the Palácio Anjos in Oeiras.
