Amir H Fallah is an Iranian-American artist based in Los Angeles who blends his Iranian heritage with American pop culture in his colorful works, including paintings, sculptures, NFTs, and public art. He was born in Tehran in 1979 and moved to the U.S. at seven. Fallah earned his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2001 and an MFA from UCLA in 2005. His art combines Persian miniatures, Western cartoons, and collage. Right now, his solo exhibition “The Fallacy of Borders” is at UCLA's Fowler Museum, curated by Amy Landau, showcasing the zine Beautiful/Decay he co-founded in 1996. He’s also had significant exhibitions like the Sharjah Biennial in 2009 and received awards like the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 2015. In 2023, he held a solo show at Shulamit Nazarian and participated in Art Basel Hong Kong. His first NFT, Immortal, was released in 2021. In February 2023, he unveiled a public artwork called Chant, which features a neon sun and the words “Woman, Life, Freedom” in English and Farsi, honoring the Iranian protests after Mahsa Amini's death. Fallah is represented by galleries in Dubai, Athens, and Los Angeles.
