American Academy of Arts & Letters presents Annual Exhibition of Visual Arts through April 9
Right now, the American Academy of Arts & Letters is hosting its Annual Exhibition of Visual Arts, known as The Invitational, which runs until April 9. A group of academics has put together this event, showcasing a variety of artists and their unique styles, often considered true artists by their peers. One standout piece is Walter Robinson's 2015 work, "Macy's 60% Off." Robinson is among those honored by the Art Purchase Program, funded by contributions from Childe Hassam and other notable figures, which buys artworks from the exhibition for museums across the country. This event is taking place in the McKim Mead & White galleries, located 150 blocks north of the Whitney Museum, and it reflects the current state of American art without a specific theme. Recently, nine artists were awarded $10,000 each, along with those benefitting from the Art Purchase Program.
