Ambrogio Lorenzetti fresco restoration opens to public in Siena
Visitors can climb scaffolding to observe restorers at work on Ambrogio Lorenzetti's frescoes in the Basilica of San Francesco, Siena. The initiative, titled 'Ambrogio Lorenzetti. Inside the Restoration,' offers guided tours on two February weekends: February 10–12 and February 24–26. Tours are led by Massimo Gavazzi, the restoration supervisor, with work concluding at the end of April. Siena holds 70% of Lorenzetti's surviving works, including the famed 'Allegory of Good and Bad Government' in the Palazzo Pubblico.
