Amatrice's historical archive saved after earthquake
The Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage has announced the successful recovery of Amatrice's historic archive, which suffered damage during the 2016 earthquake. The restoration effort was spearheaded by teams from the Ministry and the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro, with contributions from fire brigades, cultural heritage carabinieri, and forestry authorities. A total of 774 folders and 318 registers, encompassing 7,871 files, have been salvaged and are currently housed at the Archivio di Stato di Rieti for further restoration.
