Amar Kanwar Major Solo Exhibition at Serpentine North in 2026
From September 23, 2026, to January 31, 2027, Serpentine North will present an important solo exhibition by Amar Kanwar. Featured works will include The Peacock's Graveyard (2023), which is a seven-screen installation; Such a Morning (2017), a full-length film; and the debut of The Charcoal Man (2026), a new multi-screen project that took three years to develop. Based in New Delhi, Kanwar's art combines poetic elements with political commentary, exploring issues like decolonization, Partition, violence, ecology, and memory. This exhibition continues Serpentine's partnership with Kanwar, which started with the Indian Highway exhibition in 2008. A storybook-style publication by Sherna Dastur will also be released for the event. Kanwar expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort behind the installations.
