Amanita Gallery Opens New Rome Location with Daniele Milvio Solo Show
Amanita Gallery, founded by Caio Agosto Twombly, opens its new Rome location on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with a solo exhibition by Italian artist Daniele Milvio titled "Questa sera si recita a soggetto." The gallery, which previously operated in Florence and New York, closes its Florentine chapter to establish a permanent base in Rome. The new space is situated on the ground floor of Palazzo Crivelli at Via dei Banchi Vecchi 24, a Renaissance building known for its ornate facade featuring stuccoes, putti, grotesque masks, and mythological scenes, earning it the nickname "Palazzo dei Pupazzi." Twombly explained that during the pandemic, the gallery operated as an exhibition space in Florence, hosting shows with artists Leonardo Meoni, Francesco Cima, Eva Beresin, and Marco Scarpi, with whom they continue to collaborate. After the pandemic, they opened in New York before returning to Italy. The Rome location was chosen due to the gallery's many Italian artists and Twombly's base in the city. The works in Milvio's exhibition result from his recent residency at Fondazione Iris in Bassano in Teverina, about 80 kilometers from Rome, a foundation owned by the Twombly family. Twombly noted that they have been organizing residencies and exhibitions for about two years, with Milvio as the latest invited artist, and plan to continue this combination. The Rome gallery will allow them to work with international artists interested in Rome.
