AMACI Study Day Examines Future of Italian Contemporary Art Museums

AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums) is organizing its fifth annual spring Study Day on March 28, 2025, focusing on the evolving role of contemporary art museums in Italian society. The online conference, curated by Elisabetta Barisoni (Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia) and Emma Zanella (MA*GA director), will be divided into three sessions. Opening remarks will be given by Angelo Piero Cappello (Director General of Contemporary Creativity) and Lorenzo Balbi (AMACI president), followed by a preliminary survey analyzing the state of AMACI's 26 member museums. The event aims to foster dialogue on best practices that recognize museums' educational role and strengthen collaboration with institutions. Speakers include Laura Pazienti, Alessandra Franzone, Roberto Vannata, Francesco Tedeschi (CRA.IT director), Luca Mizzan (Museo di Storia Naturale di Venezia), Pietroluigi Genovesi (MUVE Academy), Irene de Vico Fallani (MAXXI), Marcella Beccaria (Castello di Rivoli), Eva Elisa Fabbris (Museo Madre director), Alexander Damianisch (University of Applied Arts Vienna), Corinne Mazzoli (artist), Lorena Giuranna (MA*GA), and Alice Visentin (artist). Topics include the museum as educator, museum-academia relations, and the role of artists within museums. Participation is free with mandatory registration.
