Alvisi Kirimoto Completes Music Academy in Camerino Post-Earthquake

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Four years after the 2016 Central Italy earthquake, the international architecture firm Alvisi Kirimoto, in collaboration with local studio Harcome and promoted by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, has completed the new Accademia della Musica in Camerino. The 600-square-meter building, designed by Massimo Alvisi and Andrea Gianfelici, features a tilted volume clad in perforated white metal panels inspired by clouds, with a glass curtain wall on the south side opening to the historic center. The interior includes a 226-square-meter auditorium (180 seats), nine teaching rooms, recording studios, and an orange resin staircase. The project aims to restore Camerino's cultural role and provide a hub for music education, workshops, and community events. The academy is open year-round and includes over 4,650 square meters of outdoor spaces. Alvisi Kirimoto, founded in 2002, is known for blending Italian sensitivity with Japanese formal clarity and a focus on spatial and social regeneration.
