Altes Museum in Berlin to Undergo Major Renovation by 2030s

Marion Ackermann, the president of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, has revealed that the Altes Museum, located on Berlin's Museumsinsel, will be renovated during the 2030s. This museum, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and inaugurated in 1830, is the last major institution on the island set for refurbishment. Currently, the Pergamonmuseum is undergoing renovations, with sections scheduled to reopen next summer, including the Pergamon Altar hall, which will showcase restored wall colors and cleaned skylights. The complete reopening is anticipated in 2037, with an estimated cost of 1.5 billion euros. Recent auction highlights feature Henri Matisse's 'La Chaise lorraine' selling for $41.5 million, Carla Accardi's artwork fetching €400,000, and Constantin Brancusi's 'Danaïde' achieving $93 million.
