Alterazioni Video's Turbo Film Debuts at Triennale Milano
On June 22, 2020, the collective Alterazioni Video presented a new Turbo Film at Triennale Milano, directed remotely via Zoom during the pandemic. The project, curated by Davide Giannella and Matteo Balduzzi, was produced in collaboration with No Text Azienda (Lorenzo Gentilini, Alvin Mojetta, Domenico Nicoletti, Michele Zanotti) and featured textual contributions from Filippo Anniballi. The film centers on Gigi Veritas, a post-apocalyptic urban explorer whose aesthetic recalls American boogaloo. The collective—Paololuca Barbieri Marchi, Alberto Caffarelli, Matteo Erenbourg, Andrea Masu, Giacomo Porfiri—worked for months online, amassing images and ideas from friends and artists across three continents. The performance blended live action and digital projection, with a cast including dancers, actors, and a performer who described being "kidnapped and hastily exhumed" from Zoom. The event featured surreal scenes: a priest wielding a plunger while quoting Burroughs, a trapper in Pasolinian delirium, and a Deliveroo-branded coffin carried by African dancers. The film explored themes of death and rebirth, culminating in a cathartic finale that left the audience applauding. The project was presented in the garden of Triennale Milano during a nighttime museum opening.
