Alter Eva: Six Women Artists on Nature, Power, and the Body at Palazzo Strozzi
Palazzo Strozzi in Florence presents 'Alter Eva. Natura Potere Corpo', a group exhibition featuring six Italian women artists born between the 1980s and 1990s: Camilla Alberti, Irene Coppola, Martina Melilli, Margherita Moscardini, Marta Roberti, and Silvia Rosi. The show is part of the Palazzo Strozzi Future Art program, developed in collaboration with IED Florence and the Master in Curatorial Practice. It includes a series of five conferences and student-led guided tours. The exhibition explores themes of nature, power, and the body through sculpture, painting, photography, and installation. Alberti's assemblages of found objects appear poised to move; Roberti's charcoal drawings depict dreamlike flora and fauna; Coppola's works incorporate volcanic ash and agave leaves from Sicily. Melilli transforms a space into a reading room with interviews from Playboy; Rosi uses her own body to portray her parents from Togo; Moscardini presents a neon text by Hannah Arendt and drawings on the Syrian diaspora. The exhibition runs at the Strozzina underground space, seven months after JR's 'La Ferita' installation on Palazzo Strozzi's facade.
