Almine Rech Opens Second Paris Gallery on Avenue Matignon
Almine Rech, the gallery founded by Almine Rech-Picasso in Paris in 1997, will open a second Parisian location on January 21 at 18 Avenue Matignon, near the Grand Palais and Christie's and Sotheby's auction houses. The new space, occupying the ground and first floors of a Haussmann-style building, joins the gallery's existing Paris location in the Marais and its international outposts in Brussels, London, New York, and Shanghai. The venue will present exhibitions of gallery artists and secondary market works, a strategy similar to that of Emmanuel Perrotin, who recently opened his fourth Paris space and a secondary market operation on the same avenue. The inaugural show is a solo exhibition of American artist Kenny Scharf titled 'Vaxi Nation,' featuring his recent paintings. Almine Rech expressed enthusiasm for expanding in Paris, citing the city's creative culture and spirit as foundational to the gallery's identity.
