publication · 2026-04-23

On February 27, Almeida e Dale Galeria will unveil 'As Impurezas Extraordinárias de Miriam Inêz da Silva,' coinciding with an exhibition that will run until March 27. This showcase represents the largest retrospective of the artist in São Paulo, featuring over 110 pieces created between 1962 and 1996. The accompanying book presents previously unseen works and includes writings by Kiki Mazzucchelli, Sofia Cerqueira, Marcelo Campos, and Bernardo Mosqueira, who curated both the exhibition and the publication. Born in 1937 in Trindade, Goiás, Miriam studied at Escola Goiana de Artes Plásticas and MAM-RJ, participated in the São Paulo International Biennials in 1963 and 1967, and enjoyed a career spanning four decades. The exhibition challenges traditional categorizations, focusing on intention and transgression. Free admission is available by appointment, along with a virtual viewing room due to pandemic restrictions.
