Almanac: A Nonprofit Platform Bridging London and Turin

institutional · 2026-05-04

Founded in 2013 by Guido Santandrea, Astrid Korporaal, and Francesca von Zedtwitz-Arnim, Almanac is a nonprofit space with locations in London and Turin. Initially based in Dalston, East London, the founders met in the Visual Cultures department at Goldsmiths University. The platform focuses on solo exhibitions, residencies, public programs, and publications to support young artists. In 2014, the London space closed and Almanac Inn opened in Turin, emphasizing residencies and solo shows to connect international and Italian artists. In 2016, a new London space opened in Bermondsey, near Tower Bridge, operating in parallel with Turin. Recent projects address identity politics, representation, and visibility, exploring gender studies, postcolonialism, and ecology. In Turin, parallel solo shows feature international and emerging Italian artists like Elisa Barrera, Pietro Agostoni, Davide La Montagna, Maria Gorodeckaya, Atiéna Lansade, and Holly White. In London, Liliana Moro had her first UK solo show, and Adam Christensen explored performativity. Anna Franceschini's project, funded by Italian Council, involved a video installation inspired by Carlo Mollino. The program is curated by Guido Santandrea, with productions overseen by Iside Pandolfo. Support comes from Fondazione CRT and Compagnia di San Paolo. Upcoming solo shows include Gaby Sahhar, Rebecca Lennon, and Cleo Fariselli.
