Alis/Filliol Debuts Immersive Sculpture Installation at Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro
The artist duo Alis/Filliol, formed by Davide Gennarino (b. 1979, Pinerolo) and Andrea Respino (b. 1976, Mondovì) and active since 2007, presents their first solo and original intervention in Milan at the project room of Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro. The exhibition is open to the public for only five weeks. During the opening, a dense artificial fog, held back by long transparent vinyl curtains, enveloped both visitors and exhibited works, blurring boundaries between the human eye's search for finish and the unfinished nature of sculptural forms. Two solidified flames from expanding foam, two mythological tongues shaped like damned monsters, face each other, exchanging their human faces with angry gazes in a continuous mute dialogue on tragedy. Scientific curator Simone Menegoi notes that the project 'is not only a work of sculpture, but also a work on sculpture: on its history, its genres, its traditional techniques.'
