Alighiero Boetti's Monumental Estate 70 on View in Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-05

A major exhibition of Alighiero Boetti's work is on display at the Fondazione Cini in Venice, featuring the monumental Estate 70, the largest work on paper by the artist (1940–1994). Created in summer 1970 at the Franco Toselli gallery in Milan, Estate 70 measures two meters high and twenty meters long, covered with thousands of adhesive stickers in red, blue, green, and yellow on beige wallpaper. The show includes 22 works across 11 sections, drawn from public and private collections, exploring themes of order and disorder, time, and repetition. Key pieces include Titoli, Storia Naturale della Moltiplicazione, Copertine, Mappe, Tutto, and Aerei. The second part of the exhibition features a special project on photocopies, with 1,665 photocopied images in 15 red volumes, and a photocopier with red sheets available for the public, inspired by Mario Garcia Torres's homage to Boetti.
