Alicja Kwade's 'Vestigia' at Galleria Continua Explores Time and Systems

Alicja Kwade, a Polish artist born in 1979 in Katowice and currently residing in Berlin, is showcasing her second solo exhibition titled 'Vestigia' at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano, which will be open until November 20, 2025. This exhibition includes pieces created between 2017 and 2025, such as 'Trait Transference' (2024), 'Adoption of specific properties' (2022), 'Reality zones' (2017), and 'Assumption of distinct qualities' (2025). The latest bronze sculptures, 'Archibiont I' and 'Archibiont II' (2025), merge geometric and organic shapes. Kwade, who studied sculpture at UdK Berlin, participated in the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017 and holds a fellowship at the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome, emphasizes the importance of site-specificity and scale in her art while exploring science and quantum physics.
