Alicja Kwade presents 'Out of Ousia' at Art Basel Unlimited, exploring reality and perception

At Art Basel Unlimited, Alicja Kwade will showcase 'Out of Ousia,' with representation from Kammel Mennour and König Galerie. The title translates to 'out of the substance' and connects to the concept of ontology. Kwade's intention is to encourage audiences to reconsider their perception of reality, drawing inspiration from Graham Harman's 'Third Table.' Utilizing mirrors, the installation creates a non-linear experience of time and space, offering evolving viewpoints. Addressing the fleeting attention spans common at art fairs, Kwade evokes a sense of déjà vu between introspection and tangible reality. She emphasizes transformation, altering objects into various realities. Additionally, Kwade is working on a project for Whitechapel Gallery in London and has previously displayed 'I rise again,' 'changed,' and 'But the same' at 303 Gallery.
