Kuwaiti-Puerto Rican artist Alia Farid has been awarded the Lise Wilhelmsen Art Award, which comes with a $100,000 prize. Her artistic endeavors encompass writing, drawing, film, and sculpture, with a focus on underrepresented stories. Among her significant works is the 2017 film Theatre of Operations, which delves into her family's displacement following Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait.
