Ali Sethi and Nicholas Jaar Perform at C2C Festival in Turin
At the C2C festival in Turin, running until November 2 at Lingotto Fiere, Pakistani singer and writer Ali Sethi performed with Chilean electronic producer Nicholas Jaar. Their set included the 2021 track 'Yakjehti Mein,' dedicated to Palestine, which Sethi introduced with a message of unity and understanding. Sethi, a US-based artist known for reviving the ghazal—an ancient poetic form used by Sufi mystics—brings a queer, revisionist approach to the style. Jaar, a Chilean-American composer with Palestinian and French roots, is the son of artist Alfredo Jaar. His debut narrative anthology 'Isole' was published by Timeo last summer. The duo's collaboration began after Sethi, who had long admired Jaar's music, was introduced by a mutual friend. Their album 'Intiha' was released in June 2021, and much of it was performed on October 31 at C2C. The performance was preceded by Guatemalan cellist Mabe Fratti and Venezuelan guitarist Héctor Tosta (Titanic), and followed by a set from IOSONOUNCANE and Daniela Pes. The festival opened with a video tribute to its late founder and director, Sergio Ricciardone.
