Ali Forney Center Gala Raises $3M for LGBTQIA+ Youth
The A Place at The Table gala, organized by the Ali Forney Center, successfully garnered $3 million to address issues of transphobia and homophobia, offering housing, education, and employment for marginalized LGBTQIA+ youth. Taking place at The Glasshouse in Chelsea, the event embraced a 'queer chic' dress code and featured a silent auction showcasing works by LGBTQIA+ artists. A live auction, hosted by Marti Gould Cummings and Letitia Frye, raised over $600,000. Honorees included Chappell Roan, Liev and Taylor Schreiber, and Gia Love. The evening, hosted by drag queen Plasma, also showcased a vogueing performance to Katseye's Internet Girl. Notable attendees included actor Tommy Dorfman, director Celine Song, Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy, and designer Cynthia Rowley. Center president Alexander Roque encouraged attendees to transition from allies to accomplices.
