Algoritmi Festival Goes Online with VR Museum The Dome

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The first edition of the Algoritmi festival, originally scheduled to open at Bunker in Turin's Barriera di Milano district, has moved online due to the pandemic. Curated by Karin Gavassa, the festival focuses on digital languages in art, music, and performance. It has already launched The Circle, a program of web-based events including sound performances, video, electronic music, and live coding, accessible via social media and virtual reality. On April 25, the festival will inaugurate The Dome, described as the first museum entirely designed in virtual reality for site-specific, immersive, and interactive 3D and digital art. The space was developed with VR programmer Enea Le Fons, creator of the UXR.zone platform and known for his #30daysinVR challenge in 2018. Le Fons emphasizes that artists can experiment in a holographic development environment with zero risk, no waste, and unlimited dimensions. Three artists have been invited to create site-specific works for the opening: Franz Rosati (Hyletics), Nesso (Francesco Corvi) with HyperGlass 2.00, and Toshikazu Jayson Toyam with Truth of The Universe 2.0. The Dome aims to be a cultural center with democratic access from any device, with or without a VR headset, and without requiring an app download. The festival seeks to explore new modes of exhibition and art fruition during a time of social distancing.
