Alfredo Pirri shares studio video diary during lockdown

other · 2026-04-27

Artribune has launched a video initiative asking artists to document their work and daily life during the COVID-19 lockdown. The first participant is Alfredo Pirri (born in Cosenza, 1957), who describes dividing his time between home and his studio, located ten minutes away. He notes the empty, silent studio feels like snow, but acknowledges the hidden tragedies behind the calm. Pirri is using the imposed isolation to work concentratedly on drawings and watercolors—pictorial notes for spatial or architectural projects, some destined for physical spaces and others for exhibitions that may or may not happen. At home, he is collaborating remotely with a group to revamp his website (nearly finished) and beginning to teach painting online, questioning whether distance teaching of painting is possible and expressing curiosity to find out. Artribune invites other artists to send their videos via email for distribution on their web and social channels.
