Alfredo Pirri's Site-Specific Installation at Città Sant'Angelo Honors Gramsci

Alfredo Pirri, a major figure in contemporary Italian art, presents 'Alfredo Pirri. Luogo Pensiero Luce' at the Museolaboratorio in Città Sant'Angelo, Abruzzo, running until August 10. The exhibition centers on a site-specific work, 'Compagni e Angeli – per Città Sant'Angelo,' dedicated to Antonio Gramsci's imprisonment in Turi. The installation features a multicolored cabin of plexiglass panels and mirrored floors, containing hundreds of goose feathers destined for slaughter, creating a poetic, spiritual cell that explores themes of confinement and escape. Supported by the PAC 2022-2023 (Piano per l'Arte Contemporanea) from the Ministry of Culture's Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea, the work will remain part of the museum's permanent collection. Accompanying the installation are drawings permanently embedded in the wall and a series of videos placed throughout the museum, including a documentary on Pirri's sculpture 'Fuoco-Cenere-Silenzio' created during the lockdown in Rome.
