Alfredo Pirri's monumental public installation opens in Florence

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Florence mayor Dario Nardella inaugurated 'Prospettive con Orizzonti', one of Italy's largest public installations, by artist Alfredo Pirri. The work occupies 2,270 square meters near the new Teatro dell'Opera in the Cascine area. It consists of metal parallelepipeds, mirrors, glass elements embedded in the ground, and feathers, creating a 'metaphysical archaeological site' that changes appearance between day and night. The installation covers the new Auditorium del Maggio Fiorentino, integrating with ongoing architectural projects. It is part of a broader urban regeneration plan for the Parco delle Cascine area, which will also involve the redevelopment of the old OGR (Officine Grandi Riparazioni) in the coming months.
