Alfredo Pirri and Nanou Group Debut Dante's Paradise at Ravenna Festival

Alfredo Pirri and the Nanou group, comprising choreographers Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci, will present 'PARADISO [Bozzetto SN – 001]' at the Ravenna Festival from July 16 to 18, 2021, with music by Bruno Dorella. The project reimagines Dante's Paradiso through an interdisciplinary approach blending visual art, dance, and light. Pirri, who designed the scenic space, describes the work as giving structure to the void through color and light, creating a diffuse, immersive environment. The choreography employs an 'aleatory compositional system' where dancers improvise within set parameters, ensuring no two performances are alike. The collaboration emphasizes live experience, rejecting digital mediation, and aims to create a shared space for performers and audience. Pirri and the Nanou group have been developing the project since its conception, focusing on continuous dialogue and avoiding compromise. The work is presented as a 'sketch' (bozzetto), the first in a series, exploring the intersection of art and the sacred, with Pirri asserting that without art, the sacred cannot survive.
