Alfie Boxx Camera Integrates Darkroom into Handcrafted Wooden Body

other · 2026-05-01

A British company called Alfie Cameras is about to launch the Alfie Boxx, a distinctive analog camera that allows photographers to develop black-and-white positive images right inside the camera. Made from handcrafted wood, it features a ground glass viewing screen and comes with a 'Pocket Darkroom' that has a magnetic film holder. After taking a photo, users can follow a four-step chemical process—developer, bleach, clarifier, and re-exposure—to develop their images on-site. Pre-cut photographic paper and chemistry kits from Adox and Bellini will be available. The camera also uses black-and-white reversal film and offers a modular lens system. The Kickstarter campaign kicks off on May 19, with exclusive perks for early supporters.
