alfatih's 'Time Leaks' Explores Bureaucracy and Play at Kunsthaus Langenthal
Alfatih's inaugural solo exhibition in German-speaking Switzerland, titled 'Time Leaks,' is currently displayed at Kunsthaus Langenthal, a former town hall situated above the River Langete. Due to its historical flood management and frequent inundations, Langenthal has earned the moniker 'Little Venice,' highlighting the contrast between stability and chaos. Occupying six rooms on the second floor of the old tax office, the exhibition features new works such as 'Time Leaks' (2026), a loudspeaker installation producing ticking sounds; 'The Secret to Tax Evasion, and Other Life Wisdom' (2026), a video in a cupboard showcasing an origami crane made from tax papers; and 'Force Majeure' (2026), a solar-powered device that postpones rain. Other pieces include 'Adagio for Fish' (2026), a malfunctioning talking fish; 'Untitled' (2025), a slot-machine-style display of truisms; and 'Zero-Sum Game' (2026), rotating projectors presenting raw data. The exhibition draws on LARP (Live Action Role Playing) and philosopher Giorgio Agamben's Apparatus concept. An audioguide can be accessed via QR code. A publication featuring text by Marius Quiblier will be launched on 6 May 2026 at 7 p.m. at the Kunsthaus, with curation by Raffael Dörig and Marius Quiblier.
