Alexeev and Vlassenroot in Dialogue at Otto Zoo, Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The two-person exhibition "Images and Their Entities" and "Sentience" at Otto Zoo in Milan pairs Nikita Alexeev and Edwin Vlassenroot, both born in 1953 but from different countries and artistic backgrounds. Alexeev, a Moscow conceptualist, dedicates the show to Umberto Eco, combining objects with pen-and-watercolor drawings and texts in Russian, French, and English to create narrative shifts and temporal suspension. Vlassenroot, from Hulst, presents paintings where natural elements are rarefied to a quasi-Renaissance decorative quality, alongside sculptures with visionary and grotesque features. The dual solo shows coexist in an ironic dimension where nature becomes metaphysical, prompting reflection on image and vision. The exhibition runs until January 20, 2017, at Otto Zoo, Via Vigevano 8, Milan.
