Alexandre Perigot's Monumental Facades at Parc de la Villette
From October 1, 2005, to January 1, 2006, Alexandre Perigot exhibited two large-scale installations at Parc de la Villette in Paris: 'Maison témoin, maison de Dalida' and 'Maison témoin, maison d'Elvis.' The Dalida piece is a 13-meter-high exact replica of the singer's Montmartre home facade, supported by struts with nothing behind it. The Elvis installation is a 150-square-meter steel structure replicating the volume of Elvis Presley's Graceland, located on Place de la Fontaine-aux-Lions near the Cité de la Musique. On October 7, 2005, Perigot staged a performance with musicians Xavier Boussiron, Jean-Jacques Palix, Juan Trip, David Moreau Hispard, Philippe Almosnino, and Alexis Mazzoleni exploring the remnants of rock music. The Elvis house is scheduled to be rebuilt in bamboo on Rirkrit Tiravanija's 'The land' project in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with an inauguration in February 2006, joining works by Philippe Parreno, Tobias Rehberger, and Liam Gillick.
